Nio will celebrate 1 millionth car production milestone on January 6

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker will hold a ceremony on January 6 at its F2 factory in Hefei, Anhui province, to mark the rollout of its 1 millionth mass-produced vehicle. On January 1, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li said in an internal letter to all employees welcoming 2026 that the company would reach its 1 millionth mass-produced vehicle “in just a few days.”

Please continue to uphold the original intent of being a user-centric enterprise, and repay user trust with better products, better services, and better operating results. A toast to the sun; success comes through long-term effort. Our journey is a marathon on a muddy road. Let us focus on action and face the challenges ahead together” Li said. 

Nio was founded in Shanghai on November 25, 2014, as one of China's earliest EV startups. The company celebrated its 100,000th production vehicle rolling off the assembly line on April 7, 2021, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk congratulated it, calling it a "tough milestone." 

On May 9, 2024, Nio marked the production of its 500,000th vehicle. The company launched its Onvo brand on May 15, 2024, and unveiled its first model, the L60, on September 19, 2024. Onvo's second model, the L90, went on sale on July 31, 2025. The Firefly brand was officially launched on December 21, 2024, with its sole model currently available hitting the market on April 19, 2025. 

Nio delivered a record 48,135 vehicles in December, bringing its full-year 2025 deliveries to 326,028 units -- a 46.88% year-on-year increase. Cumulative deliveries since Nio’s founding reached 997,592 units by the end of December, nearing the 1 million milestone.

BYD Racco tops 5,000 orders in Japan in first week of pre-sales

The Chinese automaker’s new kei EV is showing early momentum in one of Japan’s most protected vehicle segments, with demand driven largely by existing mini-car owners and second-car buyers  BYD Racco has gained strong early traction following its launch. Since opening pre-orders on July 21, the model has secured more than 5,000 confirmed orders in its first week. BYD Japan aims to r each cumulative orders of 10,000 units by the end of 2026. BYD Racco is a kei-class electric vehicle developed specifically for the Japanese market. Racco made its debut at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show, where it attracted 30,000 expressions of interest during its initial appearance.  Some dealers reported receiving more than 200 customer visits per day at physical showrooms, with high-performing stores recording around 60 deposit orders in a single day. NIO’s 100,000-order surge signals a fresh fightback in China’s EV Market
