Nio Firefly launches new limited-edition named “Pegasus Rhapsody”
Nio's compact electric vehicle (EV) brand Firefly has launched a new limited-edition Firefly EV co-designed by Firefly and Dutch artist Jordy van den Nieuwendijk with a limited supply of 99 units
Nio's compact electric vehicle (EV) brand Firefly has launched a new limited-edition Firefly EV for its debut model, named “Pegasus Rhapsody.” The edition is capped at just 99 units and was co-created with Dutch contemporary artist Jordy van den Nieuwendijk. “Inspired by unrestrained imagination, it sparks everyday creativity— free, expressive, and full of unexpected encounters,” Firefly said.
The core specifications of the new edition remain consistent with the regular version, with the main differences being exclusive exterior and interior designs. The “Pegasus Rhapsody” limited edition features a white body as its base, adorned with extensive colorful stripes and hand-painted graphics.
The winged pegasus serves as the core visual element. At the rear of the vehicle, there is also a firework pattern centered around the brand logo, giving it a very playful character.
Additionally, the vehicle bears the artist Jordy’s signature emblem and comes with exclusive NFC card keys. Combined with the daytime white rally-style alloy wheels, it is highly distinctive. The interior adopts a beige theme paired with suede materials, creating a warm and pure style. Furthermore, the soft pillows, lumbar support set, and custom carpet all feature embroidered patterns that echo the exterior theme, with every detail exuding refinement.
The new limited-edition starts at 95,800 yuan ($13,750) under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) battery rental plan, in which the owner only purchases the car and can swap the battery at designated battery swap stations, with a monthly battery rental fee of 399 yuan ($60). This represents a 16,000 yuan premium — or 20.05% — over the regular Firefly EV's BaaS starting price of 79,800 yuan ($11,440). Firefly has not disclosed the price of this limited-edition model including the battery pack, suggesting it may only be available under the BaaS plan. Deliveries will officially commence on January 18.
The Nio Life online store has also launched a series of winged horse-themed products designed by van den Nieuwendijk. The year 2026 marks the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac. 2026 is a crucial year for Firefly’s global expansion. According to plans, NIO Group intends to enter a cumulative total of 40 countries and regional markets this year, with Firefly serving as the vanguard of NIO Group’s overseas expansion, leading the charge. Currently, the right-hand drive version of the Firefly has been officially launched in the Singapore market and is planned to enter the Thai market in March this year.
