Audi will build a large luxury-offroader Suv on Scout’s new platform

Audi is planning to develop a large off-roader targeted at American buyers. The new model will reportedly be positioned as a rival to competitors such as the Land Rover Defender and will be built on Scout's platform in South Carolina. 

The as-yet unconfirmed Audi will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to the optional setup in Scout's debut models. The system relies on electric motors for propulsion and uses a combustion engine as a range extender. 

As with the new Scouts, the Audi will be body-on-frame, which the company thinks will help appeal to American consumers. In an effort to get around import tariffs, which have had a significant impact on the brand's sales, 

Scout Traveler

Audi plans to work with its fellow Volkswagen Group subsidiary Scout to build the model in the United States. At the moment, Audi doesn't build any cars in the U.S., but reportedly the new Audi will be built at Scout's production facility in Blythewood, South Carolina. While the plant is still under construction, the report notes that production of the new model is expected to begin by the end of 2027.

BYD Racco tops 5,000 orders in Japan in first week of pre-sales

The Chinese automaker’s new kei EV is showing early momentum in one of Japan’s most protected vehicle segments, with demand driven largely by existing mini-car owners and second-car buyers  BYD Racco has gained strong early traction following its launch. Since opening pre-orders on July 21, the model has secured more than 5,000 confirmed orders in its first week. BYD Japan aims to r each cumulative orders of 10,000 units by the end of 2026. BYD Racco is a kei-class electric vehicle developed specifically for the Japanese market. Racco made its debut at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show, where it attracted 30,000 expressions of interest during its initial appearance.  Some dealers reported receiving more than 200 customer visits per day at physical showrooms, with high-performing stores recording around 60 deposit orders in a single day. NIO’s 100,000-order surge signals a fresh fightback in China’s EV Market
