Xpeng plans to launch new P7 in China in the second half of 2025

Xpeng Motors has released a teaser for its next-generation P7 four-door electric coupé, internally known as the E29. The model is expected to launch in China in July-August to target the mid-to-high end sedan market, and the Chinese EV maker plans to bring it overseas 

Xpeng Motors has released a teaser for its upcoming four-door electric coupe yesterday, internally known as the E29. The vehicle is expected to launch in the second half of 2025, probably in July-August and introduce a design shift emphasising a more performance-oriented appearance than Xpeng’s current sedan lineup. The new P7 is a replacement for the currently on-sale P7 sedan. The new P7 is designed by Xpeng's lead exterior designer Rafik Ferrag, the French designer known for designing the first-generation P7 in 2018. "The original P7 was a milestone for Xpeng and a turning point in China's EV landscape," Ferrag said. "With this new generation, we set out to design a pure electric sports sedan that could amaze at every angle," he added. 

He Xiaopeng, Chairman of Xpeng Motors, announced the arrival of an all-new generation model that will succeed the P7, emphatically stating: “We’re not just updating a car, we’re bringing the future forward.” The new P7 is a model aimed at the global market, and Xpeng will determine which markets the model will be available in based on demand in different countries and regions, the company said. While powertrain specifics have not been confirmed, the E29 is expected to remain fully electric and may debut Xpeng’s new “Kunpeng” EV platform. 

Some industry observers speculate that the platform could eventually support range-extended powertrains, though no such variant has been officially confirmed. For reference, the current P7 offers up to 348 kW of output in dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions, with a CLTC range of up to 702 kilometres. The E29 is expected to match or exceed those figures. Interior details have not yet been officially revealedThe E29 is expected to feature the latest version of Xpeng’s in-car software, Xmart OS 2.0, which supports voice controls and could include an augmented reality head-up display. 

The model may also feature a vision-based advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), possibly powered by Xpeng’s next-generation Turing AI chip. Xpeng sees the updated P7 as a bold and emotional upgrade to its iconic electric sports sedan, built over five years and introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He Xiaopeng, the company's chairman and Ceo, describes it as a major upgrade for the brand's next technological leap -- one that blends AI-powered luxury, cutting-edge Xpeng Turing Smart Driving, and an immersive smart cockpit into a sleek and futuristic form. The new P7 will be priced around 300,000 yuan ($41,600), Xpeng said.
