BYD Han L and Tang L will officially enter Chinese market on April 9
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced that both its Han L sedan and Tang L SUV will be officially launched tomorrow. BYD announced that both its Han L and Tang L flagship all-electric models will officially enter the Chinese market on April 9. A launch event will begin at 7 pm Beijing time that day, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced. Earlier on March 17, the pre-sale opened with a price range of 270,000 – 350,000 yuan ($37,100 – 48,100) and 280,000 – 360,000 yuan ($38,500 – 49,500), respectively.
The Han L sedan and Tang L SUV are the first models to be built on BYD's Super e-Platform, which uses a flash-charging battery that supports a 10C charging multiplier, claiming to make charging as fast as refueling a gasoline car. The battery supports charging voltages of up to 1,000 V and charging currents of up to 1,000 A, allowing charging power of up to 1,000 kW (kilowatt), both the highest in the world, according to the company. 1,000 kW is 1 MW, which BYD said is the first time the industry has used MW as a unit of measurement for EV charging power. BYD announced at the time a supercharger supporting 1,000 kW of power, which it said could add 2 kilometers of range to an EV in one second, or 400 kilometers in five minutes.

The Super e-Platform also has a new high-revving motor that spins at up to 30,511 revolutions per minute, the highest of any mass-produced motor in the world, BYD said. The motor has a peak power of up to 580 kW, the highest of any mass-produced motor in the world, exceeding the performance of a V12 fuel engine, according to the company.
The Han L EV has a length, width and height of 5,050 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,505 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. The Tang L EV has a length, width and height of 5,040 mm, 1,996 mm and 1,760 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
The Han L EV is available with two powertrain versions. The RWD has a maximum power of 500 kW (670 hp) while the AWD has a maximum power of 810 kW (1,086 hp) with 230 kW in the front/580 kW in the rear, matched with BYD’s 83.212 kWh second-generation Blade LFP battery packs, providing a CLTC range of 701 km and 601 km for the RWD and AWD, respectively.

In terms of power, the Tang L EV has similar specs as that of the Han L EV, except the entire series is equipped with 100.531 kWh second-generation BYD Blade LFP battery packs. The RWD has a CLTC range of 670 km, the standard AWD has a CLTC range of 600 km, and the vehicle-mounted drone system AWD version has a CLTC range of 560 km.
Both models boast strong performance, with the Han L EV accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds and the Tang L EV in 3.6 seconds.

The interiors of Tang L adopts a 2+3+2 7-seat layout with the front seats supporting heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The second and third-row seats can be folded down to expand the rear trunk volume to 1,960L in addition to the 136L front trunk volume.
In addition to the Han L EV and Tang L EV, BYD also began accepting customer reservations for the hybrid Han L DM and Tang L DM on March 17, but no pricing information had been released.
The Han L DM and Tang L DM will be equipped with the most powerful variants of BYD's DM hybrid technology, and the cars can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds and 4.3 seconds, respectively.
