BYD will unveil 1000-kW supercharging technology on March 17

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced today that it will hold a launch event for the "BYD Super e-Platform" as well as ultra-fast charging technology with up to 1,000 kW of power on March 17 at its Shenzhen headquarters 

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker BYD announced today that it will hold a launch event for the "BYD Super e-Platform" on March 17 at its Shenzhen headquarters, where the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV will begin pre-sales. The "BYD Super e-Platform" will reinvent pure electric technology and “will use disruptive technology to completely solve the biggest headache in EV use," the company said. BYD will then unveil ultra-fast charging technology with up to 1,000 kW of power, which a poster suggests will allow electric vehicles be charged as fast as a traditional gasoline car can be refueled. "1000-kW flash charging that allows refueling and charging to have the same speed," text in that poster reads. This means that if the vehicle supports 1,000 kW of charging power, it would be able to fill a 100-kWh battery pack in about 10 minutes. Currently, the peak power of mainstream superchargers ranges from 200 kW to 400 kW. Some car companies offer charging power of up to 500 kW, but the number of such facilities is small. Tesla opened the first V4 Superchargers in the US domestic market in October 2023, the company's fastest-charging and highest-power EV charging device to date. Powered by the V4 Cabinet, the Tesla V4 Superchargers can charge up to 500 kW. On January 1, Tesla said it will deploy the first V4 Superchargers in China in 2025.

BYD Racco tops 5,000 orders in Japan in first week of pre-sales

The Chinese automaker’s new kei EV is showing early momentum in one of Japan’s most protected vehicle segments, with demand driven largely by existing mini-car owners and second-car buyers  BYD Racco has gained strong early traction following its launch. Since opening pre-orders on July 21, the model has secured more than 5,000 confirmed orders in its first week. BYD Japan aims to r each cumulative orders of 10,000 units by the end of 2026. BYD Racco is a kei-class electric vehicle developed specifically for the Japanese market. Racco made its debut at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show, where it attracted 30,000 expressions of interest during its initial appearance.  Some dealers reported receiving more than 200 customer visits per day at physical showrooms, with high-performing stores recording around 60 deposit orders in a single day.
