Here the top new launches
BMW iX3 LONG WHEELBASE
BMW unveiled the first Neue Klasse models developed in China for China: the new iX3 Long Wheelbase and the new BMW i3 Long Wheelbase. Both models embody the leap into a new era and reflect BMW’s ambition to lead innovation in China, the company’s largest single market, particularly in electrification, digitalisation, and software-defined vehicles. Both the new BMW iX3 and the new BMW i3 are based on the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology (Gen6).
The iX3 Long Wheelbase extends the standard iX3's wheelbase by 108 mm to 3,005 mm, with all of the added length directed toward second-row passenger space. Overall dimensions are 4,885 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. China-specific regulation required BMW to develop a distinct door-handle solution for the model. The rear doors carry a semi-enclosed handle design rather than the retractable flush handles on the global iX3, in compliance with Chinese rules that restrict electronically-only-controlled handles following crashes where power failures were suspected to have prevented door operation.
Under the skin, the iX3 Long Wheelbase shares the same powertrain as the global 50 xDrive. A 108 kWh battery pack paired with a front asynchronous motor and rear excited synchronous motor delivers 345 kW (463 hp-469 Cv) of combined output and 645 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 4.9 seconds. The 800V electrical architecture supports a peak DC charging rate of 400 kW, sufficient to add 427 km (265 miles) of range in approximately 10 minutes; a 10-to-80 percent charge takes around 21 minutes. On the CLTC test cycle, BMW rates the LWB's range at more than 900 km (559 miles).
The software stack is where the China version diverges most from its global sibling. BMW Operating System X has been localized with approximately 70 percent of software engineering developed in China. Driver assistance is handled by a full-scene navigation-assisted driving system co-developed with autonomous driving startup Momenta. Inside, the new iX3 Long Wheelbase adopts BMW’s latest design philosophy. The cockpit introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive, centered on a "Visual Cone" layout combining Panoramic Vision head-up display, a 3D Head-Up Display, and a driver-facing central display.
BMW i3 LONG WHEELBASE
Now to the i3 Long Wheelbase, which in its looks is akin to the standard model. Up front, it features a slimmer interpretation of BMW’s kidney grille, flanked by sharp, angular headlamps. From the side, the stretched wheelbase is evident in the longer rear doors and extended roofline. At the rear, the car gets slim LED tail lamps connected by a dark trim element, along with a sculpted bumper. The wheelbase exceeds 3,000 mm, and interestingly, there’s an M badge near the C-pillars, which glows upon unlock.
Like the iX3, it replaces flush door handles with a conventional pull-type design to meet regulatory requirements. Under the skin, the i3 LWB shares the same new-generation electric architecture as the iX3. It is claimed to offer a driving range of over 1,000 km (CLTC). Charging capability is rated at up to 400 kW, enabling a 10-minute charge to add around 400 km of range under the same test cycle.
Like the iX3, it uses the new integrated control system to manage power delivery, braking and energy recuperation. The interior of the i3 LWB remains under wraps for now, but is expected to get the same layout as the standard model, albeit with a revised second row.
DENZA Z CONVERTIBLE
Denza, the premium brand under BYD, unveiled the Denza Z Convertible styled by Wolfgang Egger, a former Audi design chief. The Denza Z will be available in three variants: hardtop, convertible, and track edition. The convertible model, featuring a four-seat layout, made its official debut at the show with a sophisticated soft-top mechanism that neatly stows into the rear trunk.
Design highlights include a streamlined front fascia without exaggerated elements, yet aerodynamic packages remain integral. The elongated doors feature hidden handles, paired with large alloy wheels and sport calipers. The production version forgoes a prominent rear spoiler. Inside, the cabin features an instrument display alongside a floating square-shaped screen, with a wireless charging panel and control buttons in the center console area.
The Denza Z boasts a combined output exceeding 1,000 horsepower (1.013,87 Cv), achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in under 2 seconds. The 900-volt architecture enables 4C fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 13 minutes.
The first AUDI SUV is available in two distinct configurations tailored to the diverse lifestyles of Chinese consumers: a five-seater designed for active families and a four-seater crafted for business leaders seeking an exclusive, first-class travel experience. Both configurations offer zero-gravity seating as a defining feature.
BYD SEALION 08
The BYD Sealion 08 is the brand’s Ocean series new flagship SUV. The Sealion 08 boasts dimensions of 5115/1999/1800 mm with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. For clarity, it is 92 mm shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. The Sealion 08 offers two interior layout variants for five and six seats.
The car also adopts BYD’s latest tech previously introduced on the BYD Great Tang crossover. The list includes a dual-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering. The car supports BYD’s flash charging technology, thanks to the second-gen Blade battery on board. It could be charged from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
The biggest highlight of the BYD Sealion 08 crossover is the dual-motor AWD system. Its peak power output reaches 480 kW (643 hp/653 Cv). As a result, this large family driver accelerates to 100 km/h in a 5-second range. The brand’s officials didn’t disclose the battery capacity. However, the Sealion 08 boasts 900 km of CLTC range on a single battery charge. The Sealion 08 will enter the market this year.
MERCEDES GLC L EV
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC L EV IS the long-wheelbase electric version of one of the brand’s most important crossovers. The model has been developed with China in mind: the wheelbase has grown to 3027 mm, range exceeds 700 km, and the technical package includes an 800-volt architecture, S-Class-level air suspension and a large 39.1-inch MBUX display system.
Visually, the model does not try to abandon the familiar Mercedes identity for pure futurism. The large signature grille remains, but it now works as a light panel with 942 illuminated elements. When the car is unlocked or charged, it can switch between lighting sequences, while the Mercedes logo is also illuminated.
In size, the Chinese GLC L EV is noticeably larger than the global version. It measures 4949 mm long, 1970 mm wide and 1710 mm tall, with a 3027 mm wheelbase. The extra 55 mm in wheelbase and 104 mm in body length are not cosmetic: buyers of premium SUVs in China place particular value on rear-seat space, and Mercedes has adapted the model directly to that demand.
The Chinese model is fully electric. The crossover is based on an 800-volt architecture and uses a dual-motor powertrain producing 310 kW, or 416 hp (421 Cv), and 800 Nm of torque. It features the eATS 2.0 electric drive system with radial motors and a two-speed transmission, while an 89 kWh battery provides more than 700 km of CLTC range. Fast charging can add around 260 km of range in 10 minutes.
The cabin follows Mercedes’ latest logic. Ahead of the driver is a wide 39.1-inch MBUX setup, combining a 14.4-inch central screen with a separate 12.3-inch passenger display. The system runs on MB.OS and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, supports OTA updates and includes the Xiao Ben virtual assistant. Options include leather upholstery, ventilation, heating and massage for the front seats, a Burmester audio system and a panoramic roof with nine zones of variable transparency.
PORSCHE CAYENNE COUPÉ ELECTRIC
Porsche has revealed a new all-electric version of its Cayenne Coupé, expanding its SUV range with a more performance-focused design and a trio of high-powered variants. The Cayenne Coupé Electric adopts a lower, more sloping roofline compared with the standard SUV, drawing inspiration from Porsche’s sports cars.
While the overall dimensions remain similar, the revised profile reduces height slightly and improves aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of 0.23. That change contributes to a claimed driving range of up to 669 kilometres (WLTP), offering a modest improvement over the regular SUV version. Active aerodynamic features, including adjustable cooling flaps and a rear spoiler, are also used to enhance efficiency.
Three variants will be offered at launch, all using dual-motor electric drivetrains. The entry-level Cayenne Coupé Electric produces 300kW, rising to 325kW with overboost, and can accelerate from 0–100km/h in 4.8 seconds. The mid-range S version increases output to 400kW (up to 490kW on overboost), cutting the sprint time to 3.8 seconds.
At the top of the range, the Cayenne Turbo Coupé Electric delivers 630kW, with peak output reaching 850kW in launch mode. Porsche claims a 0–100km/h time of just 2.5 seconds for this flagship model. The new model is built on Porsche’s 800-volt electrical architecture, supporting DC fast charging at up to 390kW. Under ideal conditions, this enables rapid charging times, while AC charging of up to 22kW is also available.
At 4,985 millimetres long and 1,980 mm wide (excluding mirrors), the all-electric Cayenne Coupé is the same length and width as the SUV model. However, the highest point of the car is 24 mm lower, at 1,650 mm. Despite its sporting lines, the coupé offers a high level of practicality, with a load volume of 534 to 1,347 litres and a front luggage compartment that holds an additional 90 l.
The rear seating – available in either a two-seat or 2+1 layout – is electrically adjustable in two ways. As with the SUV, a towbar, and a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, is available. For customers with increased demands on the ruggedness of their car, an off-road package is also available for the Coupé.

SMART CONCEPT #2
Concept #2 is presented as a design study previewing the upcoming production Smart #2. The production version, which will include a finalised interior, is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. It retains the two-seat layout associated with the original smart fortwo while shifting to a fully electric platform.
The model emphasises compact proportions and a redesigned exterior with a two-tone white-and-gold finish. The concept reflects Smart’s return to smaller vehicles. “I have driven almost all the micro-cars currently on the market,” Smart CEO Xiangbei Tong asserted, “and I can tell you: the Smart #2 is a real car; the others are not.” Tong and Head of Design Kai Sieber detailed a strategy to reclaim the micro-car segment with the #2, framing it as a “real car” designed to outperform the wave of budget “mini EVs” currently dominating the Chinese market.
The Smart #2 is built from the ground up on the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), allowing a target range of 400 km CLTC, a massive leap from the 150 km range of its predecessor, Smart ForTwo. Tong emphasised that the vehicle’s acceleration, specifically within the 0–50 meter range, is “unbeatable” in urban environments, a claim he personally verified during winter testing in Northeast China.
BMW 7 SERIES
BMW has unveiled a comprehensively updated version of its G70-generation 7 Series flagship sedan, with the German brand suggesting the changes are so significant as to be akin to a generational change rather than a ‘Life Cycle Impulse’ facelift. Internally described as the ‘Neue Uberklasse’ and a top-end showcase for some of the brand’s new-generation technologies, the revised 7 Series will retain its role atop the regular BMW range, but beneath a new series of Alpina models set to be revealed from next month.
The interior has been fundamentally reworked as a flagship iteration of the brand’s emerging Neue Klasse cabin design, while the exterior is reworked to subtly increase the aggression of the front end. Alterations outside centre on the design of the nose, which gives us our best hint yet at how the next-generation X7 large SUV is expected to look.
The updated 7 Series adopts a more ‘monolithic’ appearance, with simpler surfacing and an even stronger visual presence with a very upright signature kidney grille, which incorporates ‘Iconic Glow’ detailing and new crystal-studded headlights. At the rear, the tail-lights now reach towards the centre of the typical sedan boot with an illuminated double-slash graphic. Wheel sizes grow to 22-inches – the first time they have been offered on a 7 Series from the factory.
But the most substantial changes are found inside the cabin, where the 7 Series not only picks up the Panoramic iDrive system from the iX3 and i3 but also a standard-fit passenger display. Panoramic iDrive replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a full-width projection across the lower part of the windscreen, complemented by a 17.9-inch central display and 3D head-up display for the driver’s use. A front passenger screen expands access to apps beyond the driver, while in the rear, an optional 31-inch 8K-resolution Theatre Screen has been improved from the pre-LCI model. Side blinds deploy automatically when the display is in use.
BMW will continue to offer the 7 Series with petrol, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric models, badged i7, globally. The electric i7 adopts sixth-generation battery cell tech developed for Neue Klasse models, increasing usable battery capacity to 112kWh and WLTP driving range to 708km. Charging capability trails full Neue Klasse models, however, because the i7 retains 400-volt architecture it is limited to 250kW DC – allowing for a 10-80 percent charge in 29 minutes.
At the top of the electric line, the i7 M70 xDrive produces 500kW/1015Nm with a 0-100km/h time of just 3.8 seconds. PHEV variants remain available in the form of the 750e and M760e, which combine the ‘B58’ inline six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor for up to 450kW in the latter grade, with electric range of 69-82km WLTP.
LEAPMOTOR B05 ULTRA
The Leapmotor B05 Ultra electric performance hatchback entered the Chinese market at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 with two trim levels available. The entry-level model has a 56.2 kWh LFP battery pack for 500 km of range under CLTC conditions. It costs 123,800 yuan ($18,135). Thanks to a limited-time discount, its price could be reduced to 118,800 yuan ($17,400).
This car is marketed in China as Lafa 5 Ultra. The top-trim Leapmotor B05 Ultra offers a 67.1 kWh LFP pack for 600 km of range. The price of this variant reaches 129,800 yuan ($19,015). However, it costs 124,800 yuan ($18,280) with discounts applied. For clarity, the price range of the regular Leapmotor B05 lies between 97,800 and 121,800 yuan ($14,330 – 17,840).
The Leapmotor B05 Ultra could be easily distinguished by sporty side skirts, large air intakes in the front bumper, and a sporty roof spoiler. The car rides on 19-inch wheels and boasts gray brake calipers. All badges are also finished in gray. The cars on stage in Beijing are wearing Hankook iON evo EV-specific tyres in a 225/45 size. The B05 Ultra has three body color options: yellow, green, and gray. The car’s dimensions are 4490/1880/1510 mm.
The Leapmotor B05 Ultra adopts a 180 kW (241 hp/285 Cv) electric motor in the rear axle. It offers 255 Nm of torque. It allows the 4.5-meter hatchback with a gross weight of 1,665 kg to speed up to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The car also adopts stiff suspension and a 50:50 weight distribution between axles. However, the top speed is only 170 km/h. The Leapmotor B05 Ultra interior is finished in black with faux-suede leather covering 4.48 square meters of the cabin. Other features include sporty front seats with 8-point massage and ventilation functions. The steering wheel of the car is also heated. This hatchback adopts a LiDAR-based assisted driving system with an autonomous parking feature.
BYD SEAGULL
The 2026 BYD Seagull (known as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf in overseas markets) made its debut showcasing two major highlights alongside several detail refinements. The most significant improvements include a maximum range increase from 405km to 505km under CLTC standards, and the availability of an optional LiDAR system. The LiDAR-equipped variant will feature BYD’s “God’s Eye B” driver assistance system.
While the overall design remains largely unchanged, the displayed model featured: a new red paint option, new 16-inch wheels with 175/55 R16 tyre specifications, LiDAR unit mounted on the roof, camera components on the front fenders, a small blue light at the rear, dual wipers (upgraded from a single wiper).
The interior design maintains continuity with the current model, with refinements including: simplified steering wheel buttons, Smart driving paddles for the intelligent driving variant, interior-colored center console buttons, upgraded 50W wireless fast charging with cooling vent, single cup holder configuration, flip-top armrest box.
GEELY EMGRAND i-HEV

At the Beijing auto show the company unveiled a new model codenamed P567 — a body-on-frame SUV with all-wheel drive and serious off-road preparation. This is not just a concept, but a near-production off-roader with a classic layout. The vehicle gets a substantial frame, high ground clearance and off-road tires, along with rugged body protection, tow hooks and underbody shielding. Hongqi is clearly targeting buyers who might previously have looked at the Toyota Land Cruiser or Mercedes G-Class.
The newcomer uses an EREV setup, meaning an electric vehicle with extended range. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that works as a generator and is not mechanically connected to the wheels. Propulsion comes from four electric motors. Combined output reaches 620 kW, or 831 hp (843 Cv), while torque stands at 1,320 Nm. The sprint to 100 km/h takes about 4.5 seconds.
On electric power alone, the SUV can cover up to 280 km, while total range reaches an impressive 1,350 km. It is also worth noting the presence of differential locks on both axles, confirming the model’s serious off-road ambitions. Dimensions of the Hongqi P567 are 5135/2050/1950 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 2,900 mm.
Hongqi is the oldest Chinese passenger car brand, running since 1958. Its cars were initially intended for use by the Chinese Communist Party’s high ranks. Decades later, its vehicles became available for regular customers.
BMW iX3 FLOW EDITION
The iX Flow made a splash four years ago at the Consumer Electronics Show with its color-changing bodywork. BMW covered the electric SUV with a special body wrap featuring electrophoretic paint. Engineers adapted e-book reader technology for a vehicle wrapped in foil, containing several million color capsules.
The iX changed its appearance in response to electrical signals that stimulated negatively charged white or positively charged black pigments. A low-voltage electrical connection supplied energy to the tiny capsules in the wrap, flipping them from black to white and vice versa. A year later, the i Vision Dee arrived with 32 true colors instead of mere shades of black and white.
Now, BMW is bringing E Ink back into the spotlight at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The iX3 Flow represents the first application on a large body panel, as previous efforts relied on smaller segments combined to cover the entire vehicle. In the case of the 2023 i Vision Dee, the concept car featured no fewer than 240 E-Ink segments.
This time around, BMW hasn’t applied electrophoretic paint across the whole body, as only the hood features E Ink. It’s customizable at the touch of a button, with eight selectable animations. These show outlines of important buildings located in China.
While it remains a concept for now, BMW says the iX3 Flow “demonstrates the technology’s readiness for series production.” BMW claims E Ink could have genuinely useful applications.
Potential use cases include ambulances and other emergency vehicles, making them more visible than with conventional flashing lights alone. It could also benefit regular vehicles.
During summertime, black cars heat up more inside, and using E Ink to lighten the body could reduce the need for air conditioning to cool the cabin. Likewise, a darker body on a cloudy day could help absorb more heat and reduce the need for climate control. Interestingly, the concept in Beijing is based on the standard-wheelbase iX3, which BMW will not sell in China.
BMW M3 EDITION 40 JAHRE
BMW has unveiled a limited M3 40 Years Edition to mark the M3’s 40th anniversary. The anniversary series will be offered in two body styles — sedan and Touring. Total production for the Chinese market is limited to 40 cars, with 20 examples of each version.
The anniversary versions receive unique design elements. The sedan will be available in Laguna Seca Blue, while the Touring comes in Wildberry. Both versions are equipped with 19- and 20-inch 826M wheels, M sport brakes and black exterior accents, including the grille and lighting elements. Special “40 Years Edition” badges appear on the body and in the cabin.
The interior uses Merino leather and M carbon bucket seats. A multifunction steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara is also included. Contrast stitching is used throughout the cabin, with a different treatment for each version.
Technically, the cars are fitted with an inline-six twin-turbo engine and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The sedan reaches a top speed of 290 km/h, while the Touring is rated at 280 km/h. Standard equipment includes M Drive Professional, offering expanded dynamic settings. Sales of the anniversary series will begin in the second half of 2026.
