In un’ intervista recentemente concessa a Il Sole 24 Ore Stella Li, vice presidente esecutivo di BYD , ha dichiarato: “Siamo la Apple dell’automotive”. Sarà, ma con tutto il rispetto per BYD e per Stella Li, ci domandiamo se ad oggi esiste una macchina della BYD che abbia totalizzato, nel mondo, un successo di vendite che può essere paragonato, pur con tutte le differenze tra uno smartphone e un’automobile, a quello di un iPhone , o di un iPad. A noi non risulta.  Ci risulta che nel 2023 una macchina elettrica è stata l’auto più venduta in assoluto nel mondo, ma era una Tesla : la Model Y . Negli ultimi mesi BYD ha rallentato il ritmo della produzione e dei piani di espansione, riducendo i turni in alcune fabbriche cinesi e rinviando l’avvio di nuove linee produttive.
