NIO’s small electric car brand posts 7,738 monthly sales as a larger battery option targets new buyers and supports further growth  Firefly, the small electric vehicle brand under NIO , delivered a record 7,738 vehicles in October , up 30.89% from 5,912 a year earlier and 5.61% from the previous record of 7,327 set in September.  Firefly accounted for 22.6% of NIO’s 34,246 October deliveries, up from about 19.6% in September and the highest share since the brand began deliveries in April 2025. The compact EV adds purchase and rental options, allowing existing owners to upgrade through swapping rather than replace their car  Firefly, the small electric vehicle brand under NIO , has launched a 60-kWh CATL battery pack, offering new and existing owners a longer-range option that extends the reach of the compact city car. Firefly said on Friday that owners who bought the vehicle outright can permanently upgrade from the standard 42-kWh battery to the 60-kWh pack for a price difference of 17,000 yuan ($2,530).  The new battery raises the CLTC range to 560 km from 420 km, an increase of 140 km, or about 33% . The model was previously available only with the 42-kWh battery. The update adds a battery capacity option to the same model. The compact EV will gain a higher-capacity CATL pack on October 23 , improving long-distance usability for both new buyers and existing owners   NIO will launch a 60-kWh battery pack for its small electric vehicle brand Firefly on October 23, offering new and existing owners a larger-capacity battery option. Pu Yang, Firefly's head of brand marketing, disclosed the plan at a user gathering in Zhengzhou, Henan province, on Friday.  The 60-kWh pack is a long-life battery from CATL that will give Firefly a range of 560 kilometers, Pu said. The pack will be available to both new and existing Firefly owners , with details to be announced at the October 23 launch event, Pu added.
