Firefly tops 50,000 deliveries in 11 months

Nio’s premium compact car brand announced on March 29 that it has delivered 50,000 units within just 11 months since initial deliveries began on April 29, 2025, accelerating from 40k to 50k in just over two months. Firefly is targeting 100,000 cumulative global customers by end-2026

Nio's premium compact car brand Firefly reached its 50,000th delivery milestone 11 months after the launch of its sole existing model, the brand announced Sunday. The brand’s first model was launched in China on April 19, 2025, with first deliveries on April 29, initially offering two variants with distinct design themes, priced between 119,800 yuan ($17,370) and 125,800 yuan ($18,240). Under Nio's Battery-as-a-Service plan, entry pricing drops to 79,800 yuan (c. $11,500) with a monthly rental fee of 399 yuan.

Positioned to compete with Mini and Smart, Firefly reached 10,000 deliveries in July 2025, 20,000 in September, and 30,000 in November. On January 10, 2026, cumulative deliveries surpassed 40,000 units. The jump from 40,000 to 50,000 units took just over two months, indicating a clear ramp-up in momentum.

The car is powered by a 105 kW rear motor and a 42.1 kWh swappable LFP battery pack from Sunwoda, good for a CLTC-rated 420 km (261 miles). DC fast charging peaks at 100 kW and brings the pack from 10% to 80% in approximately 29 minutes. The ADAS suite runs on a Horizon Robotics Journey 5 chip capable of 128 TOPS, supporting supervised highway driving and automated parking. The model carries five-star ratings in both China NCAP and Euro NCAP.

On the product side, Firefly has not aggressively expanded its configuration lineup. Instead, it has maintained market attention through incremental updates and limited editions. On March 20, the brand launched a limited-edition variant featuring an exclusive “Newborn Green” exterior color, capped at 166 units.

If consumers choose the full purchase plan including the battery pack, the official price of the special edition model is 137,800 yuan ($19,990). This is about 15% higher than the starting price of 119,800 yuan for the regular Firefly model with the battery pack included. Under the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, the starting price of the special edition is set at 97,800 yuan, with a monthly battery rental fee of 399 yuan. The new model will feature "Newborn Green" as its exclusive exterior color, paired with eye-catching contrasting details and custom decals.

At the same time, the company is preparing its next product updates. Information disclosed last week indicates that Firefly will introduce a minor facelift later this year and plans to roll out a battery swap-enabled variant in May.

Overseas expansion is also progressing. Firefly has already entered right-hand-drive markets including Thailand and Singapore this year, with current coverage spanning around 10 countries.

Geographically, Firefly has entered 10 overseas markets and is targeting close to 40 by year-end. The brand launched in Thailand on March 5, 2026 — its second right-hand drive market after Singapore — at 799,000 THB (c. $24,500) through Thonburi BlueSky, a subsidiary of the Thonburi Group.

European markets now include Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Austria, and Portugal. The UK, Australia, and New Zealand are confirmed for entry later in 2026, with Australia having already cleared regulatory approval and a prototype spotted testing in Melbourne.

Firefly is targeting 100,000 cumulative global customers by end-2026, implying roughly 50,000 additional deliveries over the next nine months — or approximately 5,500 units per month.
