Xpeng will unveil X9 MPV EREV, its first extended-range model, on November 6

The Chinese electric vehicle maker will debuts its first model equipped with the Kunpeng Super Electric System, on November 6: the launch event will begin at 7:00 pm Beijing time 

Xpeng will debut its extended-range X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on November 6, and a technology launch event will commence at 7:00 pm Beijing time that evening, the company announced today. The X9 EREV marks Xpeng's first extended-range model and will be the first of Xpeng's slew of hybrid models to launch, as the EV maker has filed EREV variants for four existing models to date. 

The X9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) marks Xpeng's first model equipped with the Kunpeng Super Electric System, featuring a 1.5T engine as the range extender with a maximum power of 110 kW (148 hp), a rear electric motor that generates 210 kW (282 hp), a 63.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from CALB-Tech and a 60-liter fuel tank. 

The model achieves a CLTC combined range of 1,602 kilometers, making it the world's longest-range 7-seat vehicle, the company said. It has 452 km of battery range, also the longest among hybrid large seven-seat models globally, the company said. 

Xpeng unveiled the Kunpeng Super Electric System at its 2024 AI Day in November 2024. The company also filed for EREV versions of its G7 SUV in September and for EREV versions of the G6 SUV and P7+ sedan in October. 

The X9 initially launched in China on January 1, 2024, as Xpeng's first MPV and its highest-priced model to date. Currently, only the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of the MPV is available, with a starting price in China of 359,800 yuan ($50,540). All other current Xpeng models are BEVs. 

In August this year, an EREV version of the X9 appeared in a regulatory catalog of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealing dimensions of 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. It is longer than the all-electric Xpeng X9's 5,293 mm length, while other dimensions remain identical. 

The X9 EREV will be one of China's hybrid models featuring an exceptionally large battery capacity, catering to consumer preferences for longer battery ranges in such vehicles. On October 16, Leapmotor debuted its flagship SUV D19, with its EREV variants utilizing an 80.3-kWh battery pack. Voyah, the premium EV division of Dongfeng Motor, launched the 2026 Dream MPV on September 15, featuring a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version equipped with a battery pack of up to 62.5 kWh. 

The X9 EREV is also the world's strongest large seven-seat model in AI computing power, equipped with three self-developed Turing AI driving chips and one Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip, according to the company. The vehicle's smart driving computing power reaches 2,250 TOPS, equivalent to nine Nvidia Orin-X chips, Xpeng said.
