Zeekr unveils the world’s first 900V hybrid platform for Suv Zeekr 9X

The Chinese EV maker has officially unveiled SEA-S, calling it the industry’s first luxury hybrid platform built on a pure electric architecture and the world’s first full-stack 900-volt high voltage hybrid platform. The first model based on SEA-S is the luxury Sport utility Zeekr 9X 

Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle brand under the Geely Holding Group umbrella, unveiled the new hybrid platform SEA-S (its Chinese name is Haohan-S) at a technology event, calling it the industry’s first luxury hybrid-exclusive platform built on a pure electric architecture and the world's first full-stack 900-volt high-voltage hybrid platform. Zeekr plans to start pre-sales of the first model based on the  platform SEA-S, the full-size luxury Suv plug-in hybrid Zeekr 9X, at the Chengdu auto show in late August. 

The Zeekr Super Hybrid System based on the SEA-S platform is equipped with tri-silicon carbide-powered motors and CATL Freevoy hybrid battery. The three silicon carbide motors have a peak output power of 1,030 kW (1,381 hp), which can provide supercar-level acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The Zeekr 9X has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine for 205 kW (275 hp). Its thermal efficiency reaches over 46%. 

The ICE of the Zeekr 9X is complemented by two electric motors. The front e-motor boasts a peak power of 290 kW (389 hp). The rear one generates 370 kW (496 hp). The SUV is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 70 kWh; it is one of the largest battery used on a passenger PHEV.The CLTC pure electric range is up to 380 kilometers, which Zeekr said is the longest among hybrid SUVs in the world. When fully fueled and fully charged, the model has a combined range of over 1,000 kilometers. The Zeekr 9X supports a charging rate of up to 6C, which can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in about 9 minutes, and from 10 percent to 80 percent in 10.3 minutes. Zeekr debuted the Zeekr 9X at the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 23, saying that the model's powertrain combines the advantages of BEV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, bringing disruptive innovation in performance, efficiency and overall driving experience. 

The Zeekr 9X is a full-size crossover with dimensions of 5239/2029/1819 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 3,169 mm. The Zeekr 9X has a dual-chamber air suspension with a dual-valve CDC system. This combination allows the driver to adjust the car’s ground clearance by 110 mm. The Zeekr 9X’s highest clearance reaches 288 mm. Another upgrade of the 9X’s chassis is the 48V active stabilizer bar. It helps to minimize body roll while taking corners. The AI system of the Zeekr 9X’s suspension helps the car handle bumpy roads. The car’s chassis can automatically switch between off-road modes: snow, deep snow, mud, rocks, sand, etc. The Zeekr 9X boasts a torsional rigidity of 41,600 Nm/degree. Its body is 91% high-strength steel and aluminum. Ten structures of the 9X’s body boast a tensile strength of 2,000 MPa.

The Zeekr 9X’s cabin offers six seats with a 2+2+2 layout. The car’s second row adopts two captain chairs with electrically powered legrests and a zero-gravity mode. Positioned as a high-end SUV, the 9X also provides a luxurious front row. The front seats’ headrests have integrated speakers. The car’s center console has a large floating touchscreen with a row of physical buttons below. The center tunnel of the Zeekr 9X has two wireless charging pads, a crystal driving mode shifter, and lots of wooden trim. Another highlight of the 9X is a gear shifter sitting behind the D-shaped steering wheel. Seat adjustment buttons sit on the Zeekr 9X’s door cards. This SUV also has buttons instead of traditional door handles. Zeekr is a high-end NEV brand under Geely Group launched in 2021.
