Xpeng introduced its humanoid robot “Iron” at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show
The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer showcased its latest humanoid robot “Iron” at Auto Shanghai 2025. Iron is already operational on its automotive production lines, assisting in the assembly of upcoming electric vehicles
According to Xpeng, Iron’s advanced mobility is driven by end-to-end large models and reinforcement learning, enabling smooth, natural movement and stable walking without the rigidity typical of traditional robots. Iron’s voice interaction system, adapted from Xpeng’s smart cockpit, allows for natural conversation through active reasoning and logical thinking.
It also integrates Xpeng’s autonomous driving technology, using the same core AI systems as the brand’s electric vehicles, bridging the gap between automotive and robotic ecosystems. Under the hood, Iron runs on Xpeng’s proprietary “Turing AI chip” and “Tianji AIOS” software system. Together, they provide advanced intelligence for perception, movement, and interaction. The company claims Iron’s system now boasts 3,000 TOPS of processing power.
The robot’s “Eagle Eye” vision system is powered by advanced cameras, ensuring precise environmental awareness and decision-making abilities. “It also features a 720° AI vision system, which can also be found in Xpeng’s autonomous driving technology,” the company stated. According to Xpeng, Iron represents its vision for a future where intelligent mobility and smart robotics deeply converge. The Chinese company envisions Iron as a personal assistant, handling tasks such as management and customer service in retail spaces, offices, and even homes.
