Xpeng held the global debut of the large 5-seat G9L SUV on Tuesday. The G9L boasts dimensions of 5120/1999/1782 mm with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. For clarity, the G9L is 198 mm longer than the BMW X5 (G05). Its trunk offers 1,152 liters of cargo space, along with an additional 230-liter underfloor storage compartment. The BEV version of the car also has a 109-liter front trunk.
The freshly launched five-seater adopts three wheel options: 20-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch. Five exterior colors are available: green, purple, black, white, and gray. The G9L adopts a closed front end with an active air intake, a slanted roofline, flush door handles, a sporty roof spoiler, and pronounced rear fenders. The car’s drag coefficient is 0.238 Cd. It is better than the Xiaomi YU7’s figure of 0.245 Cd.
Another benefit of the G9L is rear-wheel steering and a turning radius of 5.4 meters. The Xpeng G9L is available with BEV and EREV powertrain variants. The entry-level all-electric model adopts a single e-motor in the rear axle with a peak power of 270 kW (362 hp). Its zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 6.8 seconds. This electric motor is powered by a 91.9 kWh CALB-made LFP battery pack for 702 km of CLTC range. Thanks to an 800V high-voltage system, the G9L can charge 450 km of range in nine minutes.
The dual-motor AWD variant of the G9L EV adds a 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor in the front axle. The combined peak power output of the system is 430 kW (577 hp). This version can run up to 660 km on a single charge, thanks to the same 91.9 kWh battery. The all-wheel-drive G9L EV is also available with a bigger ternary NMC battery from CALB with a capacity of 110 kWh. This variant boasts 755 km of CLTC range and speeds up to 100 km/h in 4.45 seconds.
The Xpeng G9L EREV comes with a dual-motor AWD as standard. Its powertrain comprises a front e-motor for 160 kW combined with a rear one producing 230 kW (308 hp). The combined peak power output of this version is 370 kW (496 hp). It speeds up to 100 km/h in 4.95 seconds. A CALB-made 63.3 kWh LFP battery powers this system, ensuring 435 km of electric range under CLTC conditions. The G9L EREV adopts a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered engine for 110 kW (148 hp) that acts as a generator. Thanks to a 60-liter fuel tank, the G9L has a mixed range of 1,602 km (CLTC).
On the intelligent-driving front, the vehicle is equipped with up to 3 Turing AI chips delivering 2,250 TOPS of effective computing power, and will debut a major upgraded version of Xpeng's second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model. The G9L is available only with five seats. Four interior shades are available: orange, red, white, and black.
The dashboard adopts a large 17.3-inch floating screen and a thin 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster. Other highlights of this SUV’s cabin are an 88-inch augmented reality head-up display, a 9-inch streaming rearview mirror, 24-way power-adjusted front seats, a zero-gravity front passenger seat, and 33 speakers. The car’s seats adopt heating, ventilation, and 16-point massage functions. There are two wireless phone chargers in the front and one in the back.
The second row of the G9L offers a lot of storage spaces, a 12.5-liter built-in refrigerator, and a large rotatable folding table. The right second-row seats support a zero-gravity function and a power leg rest. There is also a ceiling-mounted screen with a diameter of 21.4 inches. Another 8-inch touchscreen is located in front of the rear passengers.
The large 5-seat SUV is offered in 6 variants spanning EREV and BEV powertrains. The EREV lineup consists of the 1602 AWD Ultra SE and 1602 AWD Ultra Flagship. The BEV lineup includes the 702 Max, 660 AWD Ultra SE, 660 AWD Ultra and 755 AWD Ultra Flagship.
