Xpeng begins pre-sales in China for 2026 X9 BEV

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker has commenced pre-sales in China for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the X9, following the rollout of an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version for the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) two months ago. The 2026 X9 BEV is the world's longest-range pure-electric seven-seater, with a maximum CLTC range of 750 km, the company said

Xpeng has commenced pre-sales in China for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the X9, following the rollout of an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version for the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) two months ago. The company began accepting consumer reservations for the 2026 seven-seat X9 BEV on Thursday, offering five variants in both FWD and AWD: 665 Max, 650 Ultra SE, 650 Ultra, 750 Ultra, and 710 AWD Ultra.

The company has not disclosed pre-sales pricing. Consumers can place an order for the X9 BEV with a 2,000 yuan ($288) deposit, which will be applied as a 7,000 yuan ($1,007) discount toward the purchase price.

Dimensionally, the 2026 Xpeng X9 measures 5316/1988/1785 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 3160 mm, which is 23 mm longer compared to the previous model. Its minimum turning radius is 5.4 meters thanks to the active rear-wheel steering system. The 2026 X9 BEV is the world's longest-range pure-electric seven-seater, with a maximum CLTC range of 750 km, the company said.

The 2026 X9 BEV is built on an 800-volt platform and features a battery supporting 5C supercharging. It delivers class-leading energy efficiency with a CLTC energy consumption of 15.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, according to Xpeng. The FWD continues to be equipped with a 235 kW (315 hp)/450 Nm electric motor, while the AWD comes with an additional 135 kW (181 hp)/190 Nm rear electric motor for a comprehensive power output of 370 kW (496 hp).

Both versions ultilize CALB-Tech’s 110 kWh ternary lithium battery packs, boasting cruising ranges of 665 km, 710 km, and 750 km. Under fast-charging with the standard 800V platform and 5C battery pack, charging for eight minutes can add 400 km of range, and charging from 10% to 80% takes only 11.7 minutes.

Marketed as an “AI” vehicle, the 2026 Xpeng X9 comes standard with the in-house developed Turing AI chip powering its smart driving features, delivering an effective computing power of up to 2250 TOPS. Xpeng has not provided further details on the Turing AI chip's usage in the X9, though it is expected to follow the strategy adopted when updating four other models earlier this month.

Additionally, the vehicle’s tire blowout stability system allows it to maintain stable driving after a tire blowout under extreme conditions such as wet roads at 160 km/h, heavy rain at 150 km/h, and icy roads at 120 km/h. Both the automatic emergency braking and automatic emergency steering systems support operating speeds up to 130 km/h.

The interior comes standard with three rows of electrically foldable seats, supporting four, five, six, and seven-seat configurations. In four-seat mode, the maximum expandable flat storage space reaches 2,514 L. Large interior space is a key feature of the X9: with seven people seated, the X9's trunk can accommodate seven 24-inch suitcases, according to the company.

Its second row has two independent captainchairs. They are equipped with armrests and separate charging ports. Each front seat has a folding table. Inside, the X9 has 180 cm of space in width. The third-row passengers have two cup holders and an independent climate control zone.

Other standard features are Road Noise Cancellation (RNC) technology, 27 speakers, and zero-gravity seats equipped with airbags. These seats can recline 180 degrees and are integrated with 10-point massage, ventilation, and leg rest and seat cushion heating functions.

Six exterior paints are available: “Aurora Blue”, “Starship Gray,” “Nebula Purple,” “Midnight Black,” “Nebula White,” and “Starlight Silver”.

The X9 was initially launched in China on January 1, 2024, as Xpeng's first MPV model, targeting the family car market with large space, high safety and smart driving, available only as a BEV at that time. On November 20 last year, the company launched the extended-range X9 MPV, its first EREV model.
