Xpeng has officially unveiled in China the new EV Suv G7
The Chinese EV maker unveiled today a new all-electric mid-size Sport utility that introduces several technological firsts for the company, including an AR-HUD system developed in partnership with Huawei and a fully visual-based driver assistance system powered by in-house Turing AI chip
Xpeng has officially unveiled today in China the new mid-size Suv G7. The G7 measures 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm and is designed to emphasize intelligence and spaciousness. The vehicle also offers frameless doors with electronic soft-close functionality, flush door handles, and optional 18- or 20-inch wheels. Six exterior colours are available: starry grey, crescent silver, and interstellar green.
Available in Max and Ultra trims, the G7 is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform with 212 kW rear motor that offers two battery options: 68.5 kWh and 80.8 kWh. Depending on the selected wheel size and battery configuration, the G7 offers different CLTC ranges: 602 km or 702 km on 18-inch wheels and 577 km or 677 km on 20-inch wheels.
A key highlight is the debut of Xpeng’s “Light Pursuit Panoramic” AR-HUD system, which was developed jointly with Huawei. The system features an 87-inch display field and supports AR navigation, complex intersection guidance, and dynamic lane change prompts using stabilisation, distortion correction, and latency compensation algorithms. Xpeng also debuts a VLA-OL model architecture combining “motor cortex” and “cerebellum”-like processing, enhancing the autonomy system’s real-time learning and decision-making capacity.
The Ultra variant is equipped with three Turing AI chips, developed internally by Xpeng, enabling over 2,200 TOPS of computer, claimed to be equivalent to the power of nine Nvidia Orin-X chips, supporting high-level driver assistance capabilities such as city NGP, highway NGP, and advanced parking aids. The Suv uses a camera-based sensing system with no LiDAR, focusing on a vision-only approach to intelligent driving. The G7 will be the first vehicle to be equipped with Xpeng’s self-developed chips.
The Xpeng G7 will compete with models like the Tesla Model Y and Zeekr 7X in China’s growing mid-size EV Suv segment. Xpeng plans to launch and begin deliveries of the G7 in Q3 2025. The new G7 is available for pre-sale at a starting price of 235,800 yuan ($32,800).
