NIO sub-brand Onvo launches updated L60 SUV with lower starting price

The model combines more aggressive pricing with new autonomous-driving hardware and consumer incentives, reflecting intensifying competition in China’s electric-car market

Onvo, NIO’s volume-focused sub-brand, launched the updated L60 SUV on Thursday with a 6.8% lower starting price, underscoring its push to strengthen competitiveness in China’s crowded EV market. The new L60 starts at 192,800 yuan ($28,440) with the battery included, down from 206,900 yuan for the previous version, while deliveries are scheduled to begin tomorrow.

The model is offered in three trims — Pro, Max+, and Ultra+ — priced at 192,800 yuan, 202,800 yuan, and 222,800 yuan, respectively. Under the BaaS (battery as a service) battery-rental scheme, starting prices fall to 135,800 yuan, 145,800 yuan, and 165,800 yuan.

The update introduces 106 enhancements, led by the first use of NIO’s in-house 5-nanometer automotive chip, the Shenji NX9031, and the addition of LiDAR-equipped variants. The Max+ and Ultra+ versions pair the Shenji NX9031 with NIO World Model (NWM) architecture to enable point-to-point navigate-on-pilot capabilities across driving scenarios, as well as autonomous entry and exit at battery-swap stations.

The entry-level Pro version retains a vision-only setup based on Nvidia’s Orin-X chip with 254 TOPS of computing power. Notably, the Max+ trim — the entry point for the Shenji NX9031-equipped configuration — is also priced below the starting level of the older L60.

Built on a 900-volt high-voltage platform, the updated L60 supports 3-minute battery swaps and can charge from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes. It comes standard with a 60-kWh battery pack offering up to 560 kilometers of CLTC range, while an optional 85-kWh pack extends range to 740 kilometers.

Onvo has also expanded the model’s comfort appeal, particularly in the Ultra+ trim, which adds a 17.3-inch 3K foldable rear screen, a roof sunshade, and a 6-liter smart fridge with heating and cooling functions. To support early demand, the company is offering purchase incentives worth more than 53,000 yuan for buyers who lock in orders by June 30, including a limited-time 40% discount on optional features, a 5,000-yuan options fund, a three-year interest-free financing plan with zero down payment, and five years of complimentary access to its smart driving assistance features.
