NIO Onvo officially launched the 2026 L90 with unchanged starting price

NIO’s sub brand has officially launched on Tuesday the second generation of its third-row SUV L90, the first under Nio‘s family-oriented sub-brand to feature a version with LiDAR sensors. The model is available in three trims, including Pro, Max+ and Ultra+. The Pro version retains the same pricing as the first iteration of the model, which debuted in July

NIO sub-brand Onvo officially launched the 2026 L90 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) today, updating its most important model. The model is available in three trims, including Pro, Max+ and Ultra+. Despite the pressure of rising component costs, the starting price of the updated model for the full vehicle including the battery pack remains unchanged at 265,800 yuan ($39,000).

If consumers choose the BaaS (Battery as a Service) battery rental plan, the starting price of the vehicle is 179,800 yuan, allowing users to lease the battery separately at 899 yuan per month. The Max+ and Ultra+, which feature LiDAR, are priced from 279,800 yuan and 299,800 yuan, respectively. The prices lower to 193,800 yuan and 213,800 yuan if the vehicle is purchased with BaaS. Onvo said that the new car will officially begin nationwide deliveries in China on May 9.

Onvo's head of product Eric Yu previously revealed that due to the price increase of components such as high-performance memory, the cost of the updated L90 has increased by about 10,000 yuan. However, to maintain sales momentum in the fiercely competitive mass EV market, Onvo chose to absorb this cost itself, keeping the pricing range consistent with the current model.

The 2026 Onvo L90 has received over 70 software and hardware upgrades. It is equipped with Nio's in-house developed 5-nanometer automotive-grade smart driving chip, the Shenji NX9031, for the first time.

This move marks Nio accelerating the penetration of its in-house developed semiconductor technology into its sub-brands, and Onvo is also gradually replacing the Nvidia chip products it previously used. To further enhance intelligent assisted driving capabilities, the new car introduces a LiDAR sensor for the first time. It adopts a watchtower-style layout and will be sold alongside the vision-only version.

The 2026 L90 also features the latest version of the Nio World Model for the first time, which is China's first embodied driving model for smart driving. The new L90 features an 85 kWh battery across all trims, with a CLTC range of 600 km (372 miles) for the first two trims and 570 km for the Ultra+ version. While the Pro and Max iterations are Rear Wheel Drive, the Ultra is a dual-motor All Wheel Drive.

The updated L90 continues to offer six-seat and seven-seat options and introduces two new two-tone body color options: purple-gold and silver-purple. The silver-purple scheme pairs “Chenhui Silver” — a new-generation shade developed with BASF — on the lower body with “Ningye Purple” above the beltline. The purple was inspired by the night sky above the Great Wall — “deep yet not oppressive, with a quiet sense of refinement.” The purple-gold combination — “Ningye Purple” over “Yunxi Gold” — draws on traditional Eastern symbolism.

The exterior rearview mirrors have also added a small blue indicator light for intelligent assisted driving. A blue indicator light has been added to the side mirror housing, integrated alongside the turn signal. The light activates when the vehicle’s intelligent driving system is engaged. Onvo described it as an “identity marker” for autonomous driving and a road safety signal — “making AI visible, reducing misunderstandings, and improving safety.”

To further stimulate market demand, Onvo has also launched limited-time car purchase benefits. Users who lock in their orders before May 31 can enjoy discounts with a total value of up to 58,000 yuan.
