NIO sub-brand compact EV has officially launched its refreshed model today, focusing on offering more features at no extra cost to attract more urban commuter consumers
Firefly, the sub-brand compact EV brand under NIO, officially launched its refreshed model today. The upgraded Firefly EV maintains its starting price while boosting motor power and adding some of the most desired features. The starting price for the base version of the new model, including the battery pack, is set at 119,800 yuan ($17,470). If consumers choose the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental program, the starting price will drop to 79,800 yuan ($11,600), with a monthly battery rental fee of 399 yuan ($60). The higher-trim variant has a starting price of 125,800 yuan ($18,300) for the full vehicle purchase. Under the BaaS program, the starting price for this version is 85,800 yuan ($12,470).
The new model adds a color scheme known as "Maillard," as well as a custom two-tone lower bumper design. In terms of smart configurations, the new model adds a blue indicator light for smart driving to enhance visual cues during driving scenarios. The vehicle is now equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system and features automatic tilt-down and memory functions for the rearview mirrors, which were among the most highly requested features by existing owners.
The peak motor power of the updated model has been upgraded from the previous 105 kilowatts (kW) to 120 kW, shortening the vehicle's 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time to 7.9 seconds. Notably, older Firefly users will also be able to receive the motor power upgrade through an OTA software update. Accompanying the new vehicle launch is the Aster 1.4.0 software update, which brings a more personalized cabin atmosphere and enhances the fun of in-car interactions. The new system also supports screen casting for Nintendo Switch devices, achieving a seamless connection between the in-car system and gaming devices.
In terms of driving assistance, the new system adds a tracking reverse function that can record the driving route within 100 meters. This feature can assist the vehicle in reversing accurately under complex road conditions. Additionally, a newly added false acceleration suppression assist function is designed to avoid safety hazards caused by misoperation, thereby improving driving safety.
