Xpeng G7 will launch an EREV variant in the first quarter of 2026
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker has previewed the extended-range version of its G7 Suv. The G7 EREV will offer a combined range of up to 1,704 kilometers, making it the world's longest-range Suv and enabling stress-free long-distance driving, Xpeng said. The new model is scheduled to enter the market in the first quarter of 2026
On December 30, Xpeng officially announced the G7 Super Range-Extended version, marking its third EREV following the X9 and P7+. The Xpeng G7 EREV variant will boast a CLTC pure electric range of 430 km, leading its segment, according to the company and a combined range of 1,704 km, making it the world’s longest range Suv and enabling stress-free long-distance driving, according to the automaker. This range is enabled by a 60-liter fuel tank paired with a 55.8-kWh high-capacity battery pack.
Xpeng described this combination as giving the G7 its own built-in supercharger, eliminating range anxiety. Equipped with an 800V platform and 5C fast-charging battery, it can recharge 314 km of range in 12 minutes.
The model comes standard with dual active noise cancellation systems -- ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) and RNC (Road Noise Cancellation) -- and features AI management for the range extender, delivering a quieter driving experience, Xpeng said. Sound-absorbing materials cover more than 90% of key areas, delivering a driving feel closer to that of a BEV.
The extended-range G7 appeared in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalog this September, revealing the five-seat SUV's dimensions: 4,918 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,655 mm tall, with a 2,890 mm wheelbase. These dimensions are longer than the 4,892 mm length of the G7's battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant, with other measurements identical.
The range-extender powertrain system will consist of a 1.5T engine and an electric motor, with a maximum engine power of 110 kW (148 hp) and a maximum motor power of 218 kW (292 hp). The battery (lithium iron phosphate according to the Chinese MIIT) capacity will be 55.8 kWh and the fuel tank capacity will be 60 L.
For the exterior, the Xpeng G7 EREV maintains the same design as the BEV variant, continuing Xpeng’s second-generation X Face front design. The biggest difference between the EREV and BEV is the addition of a “POWER X” badge on the lower right corner. Xpeng also unveiled G7 EREV’s new exterior color, dubbed “Stellar Dusk Purple.”
In terms of product cadence, the G7 EREV represents part of a broader phased strategy. At the Munich Motor Show in Germany earlier this year, XPeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said that most future XPeng models would adopt a dual-power approach, offering both BEV and EREV variants for global markets.
As competition in the pure electric segment intensifies, XPeng is clearly looking to the range-extended route to restore market flexibility and expand sales potential for the G7. Benefiting from optimized battery costs, the starting price of the range-extended version is expected to drop to around 170,000 yuan level ($23,800), placing it directly into the mainstream competitive bracket occupied by models such as the Avatr 07 EREV and Shangjie H5 EREV.
