Onvo will unveil L90 Black Knight Edition at Auto Guangzhou 2025

Nio’s sub-brand Onvo will showcase the special edition of L90 Suv at the 23rd Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition running from November 21 to 30. The model will be presented with the participation of the brand ambassador—well-known Hong Kong actor Louis Koo

Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, announced two days ago that it would unveil a special edition of its flagship Suv L90 at the 2025 Guangzhou auto show starting Friday, without providing further details. The answer is now revealed. Onvo confirmed on November 20 that the L90 Black Knight Edition will make its public debut at the 23rd Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition (Auto Guangzhou 2025), running from November 21 to 30. The model will appear alongside well-known Hong Kong actor Louis Koo at the Onvo booth.

This represents a clever marketing move by Onvo, one that's difficult to convey in English. Simply put, the last character of Koo's Chinese name (古天乐) is the same as the first character of Onvo's Chinese name (乐道). Combined, they mean "Louis Koo is here."

A similar marketing tactic was employed by the Nio main brand at Nio Day 2025 in late September, when Hong Kong singer Karen Mok attended the event. The final character of Mok's Chinese name (莫文蔚) matches the first character of Nio's Chinese name (蔚来), combining to form "Karen Mok is here." While these pairings hold little meaning in English, they are highly memorable within the Chinese context, effectively raising awareness of both Nio and Onvo brands.

The main differences from the standard model are focused on exterior styling. The upgrade centers on a darker and more performance-leaning appearance: 21-inch gloss-black multi-spoke wheels, blacked-out badges and lettering, black window trims, and a full dark-themed styling package.

These changes give the L90 a more solid, rugged stance with a sportier tone. Blacked-out styling helps strengthen visual presence and appeals to buyers who prefer bold, oversized designs, even as most three-row SUVs are positioned as primary family  vehicles. The dark finish also visually softens the L90’s 240-liter front trunk, which features a T-shaped opening.

The full-black treatment makes the area appear more integrated and visually cohesive. The Black Knight Edition retains the same configuration as the standard version, including second-row zero-gravity seats as standard. Electrically deployed running boards are now also standard and are expected to be reflected in the pricing.

The L90 is Onvo's second model following the L60 midsize electric SUV and has become one of Nio Inc's highest monthly delivery performers. The Onvo L90 measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width and 1,786 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Nio launched the Onvo brand on May 15, 2024, and officially introduced the L60 on September 19. The 2025 Guangzhou auto show runs from November 21-30, with November 21 designated as Media Day, accessible only to media and invited guests. The general public may visit from November 22-30.
