The AUDI E5 Sportback, developed through its partnership with Saic Motor, is now displayed in showrooms across major cities in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. The model measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It could be classified as a mid-size EV fastback and is slightly larger than segment Chinese rivals like the Nio ET5T and Zeekr 007 GT.
According to Fermín Soneira, Ceo of the Audi and Saic Cooperation Project, the E5 Sportback is the first model built on the Advanced Digitised Platform, combining Audi’s engineering expertise with China’s digital innovations to meet the expectations of tech-savvy customers. The AUDI E5 Sportback features Audi’s signature Matrix LED headlight technology. With precise beam control and intelligent zonal illumination, it enhances nighttime driving safety and comfort – maximizing vision while preventing glare for other drivers. Drivers can choose from a range of welcome animations, each crafted to suit different tastes.
Accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour in as little as 3.4 seconds, the E5 will be available in four fully electric variants featuring either rear-wheel or quattro all-wheel drive at power outputs of 220, 300, 425, or 579 kW. A battery capacity of up to 100 kilowatt-hours enables a maximum driving range of 770 kilometers; thanks to ultra-fast 800-volt charging, the car can replenish 370 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes.
The AUDI E5 Sportback features the in-house AUDI OS operating system, running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 automotive chipset. It has a 27-inch pillar-to-pillar 4K display supports customizable layouts, complemented by an AI-powered virtual assistant capable of touch and voice interaction. Launch and customer deliveries in China of the new AUDI E5 are scheduled to begin in late August/ early September.
Dealership representatives claimed many visiting customers were interested in the vehicle’s technological integration. “The combination of next-generation display technology with premium craftsmanship is creating a wow factor,” a sales manager at AUDI’s Shanghai flagship location noted. The rep also reported that many visitors have commented that the cabin experience rivals vehicles in substantially higher price segments.
