Zeekr 007 GT EV station wagon officially launched in China
Station wagons weren’t traditionally popular in China as many people preferred buying SUVs. However, Zeekr VP Chu Ling explained why the company is so determined to make station wagon. According to him, the brand’s first model, the Zeekr 001 station wagon, became a huge success. In China, it accounts for 70% of annual station wagon sales. Thanks to a great performance, in-cabin space, and a ground clearance that matches crossover. Zeekr proved that station wagons can be popular in China. Therefore, the company launched the second estate, or shooting brake, called the Zeekr 007 GT. It is positioned as a model below the Zeekr 001, aimed at high-tech lovers.
Inside, the Zeekr 007 GT has a large 15.4-inch touchscreen and an oval-shaped LCD instrument cluster. The car has a 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display. It supports the AI-powered voice assistant that supports over 200 functions. There are also built-in 3D maps available. The gear shifter of the station wagon sits behind the three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, which is a common design solution among modern Chinese automakers. The car’s center tunnel adopts physical buttons and a spacious compartment with a couple of cup holders and two 50W wireless phone charging pads. The driver’s seat boasts speakers in the headrest. The second-row seats have tablet anchorages. The car adopts a microfiber-wrapped roof and optional red seatbelts. Another highlight of the car is a large panoramic sunroof, which blocks 99.99% of UV rays. It supports a 10-step adjustment. Seats are covered with 1.42 square meters of Nappa leather. Interior of the Zeekr 007 GT adopts four color options. The front chairs of this shooting brake adopt 14-way power adjustments, heating, cooling, and massage functions.
The new station wagon boasts an interior space utilization rate of 83.5%. It has 36 storage spaces inside the cabin. It has places for fastening skis and other equipment. The car’s roof racks can handle the weight of 150 kg. With the second-row seats folded, the 007 GT’s trunk has a capacity of 1737 liters. It also has an optional refrigerator for 10.2 liters under the trunk’s floor.
The entry-level 007 GT station wagon has a single synchronous permanent magnet electric motor in the rear axle. Its peak power reaches 310 kW (416 hp). The 4WD model adds a 165 kW (221 hp) e-motor in the front axle. The system’s total power output reaches 475 kW (637 hp). This power is suitable for the zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 2.95 seconds. The sporty wagon also brakes from 100 km/h in 34.4 meters, thanks to 379-mm Brembo brakes. The car also supports the VDC 2.0 dynamic stabilization system.
The Zeekr 007 GT has two battery options. The first one is the CATL-made and Zeekr-developed LFP with a capacity of 75 kWh. The second pack is ternary NMC with a capacity of 100 kWh. The car’s range is 585 – 825 km under CLTC conditions. The Zeekr 007 GT became the runner-up EV with the longest continuous drift on the ice with a result of 55.011 km. The Zeekr 001 took the first place with 65.990 km.
Thanks to the 800V high-voltage system, the Zeekr 007 GT supports the 5.5C charging technology. It means the car can charge with a power of 5.5 times the battery capacity. The brand’s sixth vehicle also can charge other electric cars with 60 kW, turning into a mobile charging station. The Zeekr 007 GT adopts the Magic Carpet air suspension system and a CCD continuous damping control system. These functions enhance the car’s comfort and performance.
The Zeekr 007 GT is available for purchase in three trim levels:
