Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sells 10,000 units in two hours, achieving annual sales target
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was launched yesterday, and within two hours, it achieved its annual sales target of 10,000 units. Hours later, Xiaomi updated the order count, saying that the firm orders had exceeded 15,000 units. This performance EV sedan will debut in Europe on March 3, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain
The performance EV sedan with over 1,500 horsepower Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was launched yesterday at an event last night: sixteen minutes after ordering opened, the firm announced that the SU7 Ultra had received over 6,000 orders in 10 minutes and within two hours, it achieved its annual sales target of 10,000 units. Hours later, Xiaomi EV updated the SU7 Ultra order count at 11:13 pm Beijing time on Friday, saying that the firm orders had exceeded 15,000 units. Xiaomi EV will increase production capacity to speed up deliveries of this model. The performance sedan with over 1,500 horsepower started presales in October last year for 814,900 yuan ($111,800). The starting sales price announced at launch was 285,000 yuan ($39,000) lower at 529,900 yuan ($72,800). It is a usual strategy for China EV makers to undercut the presales price upon launch to create a halo, but none took it to such an extreme as Xiaomi. “Our mission is to make luxury cars affordable,” said Xiaomi’s CEO and founder Lei Jun on stage during the launch conference. “Traditional gasoline vehicles will definitely be defeated by this car,” Jun continued, praising the SU7 Ultra. Lei Jun calls the SU7 Ultra a “Dream car.” It is a performance version of the SU7 sedan launched last March. Xiaomi's goal is for the SU7 Ultra to rival the performance of a Porsche, the tech of a Tesla, and the luxury of German luxury car brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, the company's founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, said at launch event. Today, Xiaomi announced that the SU7 Ultra will arrive in Europe at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain in March. “On March 3, at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, the dual Ultras will debut overseas on the same stage. Stay tuned!” the company said. In December last year, local media reported that Xiaomi is accelerating its overseas expansions and will launch sales in small batches in several regions to test the market. Lei Jun previously said that Xiaomi aims to sell cars in Europe before 2030, most likely following his signature marketing move of “underpromising and overdelivering”. Xiaomi added five new stores in China in February, and now has 220 stores in 65 Chinese cities, Xiaomi EV said today. Xiaomi EV plans to add 16 new stores in March.
